On 20th of August, we had a publication of our story in the PUNCH newspaper. Read story here
Immediately after the publication... We got phonecalls from the Lagos State Government Public Advice Centre, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Health etc. Thereafter, we visited them to discuss the community challenges and how much we need the government to intervene in provision of basic social amenities for the populace.
Our requests were just..2:
Provision of Health Centre and School for the community. Yeah, just 2 ;)

On 23rd of September, we had a surprise visit of Senior Officials from the Ministry of Local Goverment Affairs. Woohoo! They came to our office, thereafter we toured the community... for some physical need assessment... Importantly, we showed them an abandoned MDG project, a health facility that was constructed some 4-5 years ago, but unused. :(
Also, we visited our 'make-shift' school for less priviledged children in the community etc.

After their visitation. We got to know that some other officials came visiting, to inspect the abandoned MDG health facility, also.
Interestingly, after some weeks, precisely November 12th, the health centre came ALIVE...for the first time in 5years!
Today, as we visited the centre, it was such a delight to watch as mothers with their children come into the clinic for some medical care. There were free treated nets for mothers, immunization procedures for children etc.
As we await the government to fully equip the centre, we wouldn't back down until our voices are heard, and heard clearly.

On our 2 request (school establishment for the concerned community)
We were told to go get a landed property by liasing with the community heads, LCDA chairman, 'Baale' etc. Ofcourse we have done this severally and the feedback is "we are sorry, there are no available land for schools, except you BUY one.." Woohoo! It's really sad that a community as huge as this in Alimosho LG does not have a public school.
So the search for a VERY affordable landed property to use as school for the children in this community, continues... Pray with us, maybe we could get one as Christmas gift. *smiles* Yeah! We need one so awful. As our number keeps growing, and there are more out-of-school children who need to get back to school to learn.
